International music group Hannah & the Engineers signs deal with A-List Records

New international electro-pop group Hannah and the Engineers have been signed to new Los Angeles-based label, A-List Records. H&E are one of the first acts signed to the label, whose clients will be some of the world’s top movie studios, TV and streaming networks, and trailer houses.

Hannah & the Engineers started in 2016 as a traditional live band, and as each member worked within the music industry independently, scheduling time to rehearse as a group proved to be incredibly difficult.  A decision was made to halt rehearsals, with the goal to instead focus on writing in a more controlled studio environment. The sound began to develop itself once the trio adopted the concept of no rules and not trying to please anyone but themselves.

This form of creating music allowed them to experiment with sound. Their imaginative lyrics and unique take on pop music piqued the interest of A-List Creative Director, Derek Jones, who called them in for a meeting, and ultimately signed the band, making them one of the first acts on A-List Records.

Jones describes Hannah & The Engineer’s music as unique ambient pop with great sound design and depth – “Every time you listen to the music, you hear something new…in a world of 2D, they’re 3D.”

A-List is a high-end boutique label which will offer unique artists and exclusive music for major markets, most notably signing a deal with Universal and feeding world-wide distribution to over 110 countries via UMG sub-publishing.

Hannah handles the front-woman duties for the group, penning thought-provoking lyrics and earwig melodies as the voice of Hannah & the Engineers. Steve brings the roots of the tracks, creating beats and mangling audio, crafting unique sounds and rhythmically compelling textures.  Lucas adds harmony to the sound-scape with a love for FX and unique tones, handling bass duties, layers of guitars and occasional synth lines.

With Steve hailing from Australia and the rest of the band born and bred in the USA, this gives their work a unique flavour combining rhythmic inspiration from two very different continents.

The upcoming debut EP from Hannah and the Engineers is due to be released in late 2018 with the finishing touches being added across the two different continents, with the group spending hours in their individual studios, writing and sharing files and ideas back and forth.
