Historic Wolverhampton Manor Enjoys Fresh Successes as Luxury Hotel

One of Wolverhampton’s most recognisable landmark buildings has enjoyed almost unprecedented levels of success with no less than 11 award nominations throughout 2019. Last year, The Mount Hotel Country Manor took home the awards for MFDH Best Hotel in The West Midlands 2019, Black Country Chamber Large Business 2019, and The Most Outstanding Luxury Hotel 2019 West Midlands LUX Award. The property also gained recognition as a finalist in the TWIA regional Wedding and Entrepreneur of the year MBCC Awards.

Located in Tettenhall, the city’s one and only 4* hotel found itself up against major competition from local accommodation providers. However, following a recent £3.5 million investment in the business which facilitated a number of exciting upgrades to the property, The Mount proudly took home many prestigious awards throughout the year while enjoying a reputation boost and increasing sales. A firm favourite of Premier League football teams, the hotel plays host to around 45 weddings per year and is Wolverhampton’s premier afternoon tea spot.

Along with taking home a variety of awards in 2019, The Mount also enjoyed many other successes. Following a scheduled AA inspection, the hotel’s Merit Score was increased by 5%, solidifying its place as an 80% 4* property; one of the highest ratings across the country. Additionally, the hotel’s restaurant, The Drawing Room Bar and Grill, was presented with The Good Food Award Best Restaurant West Midlands 2019 award. The restaurant currently holds the record for being the only two Rosette restaurant in Wolverhampton, and one of just eight throughout the West Midlands.

Hotel Director Scott Bernard said, “The Mount Hotel has accumulated a large number of awards in 2019, and we’re so proud to see that the effort that we’ve put into becoming a friendly, welcoming, and enjoyable place to stay is really starting to be recognised not only locally but on a nationwide basis. We are always looking for ways to improve the guest experience, and we look forward to what will hopefully be yet another exciting year for The Mount.”

The Bernard family has invested around £7 million into the purchase and redevelopment of The Mount Hotel, and the property has been upgraded extensively within recent years. All 67 of the hotel’s rooms have been fully refurbished, with the addition of six new suites and five junior suites. A state-of-the-art gymnasium has been added to the property for guest use with plans to develop a spa, while all computer systems, management systems and kitchens have been redesigned. Furthermore, in a bid to enhance the hotel’s wedding facilities, the 200-space car park has been resurfaced and landscaped for aesthetics.

The Bernards hope that the incredible successes seen across 2019 will continue throughout 2020 and it appears that the hotel is already heading down the right path. The Mount Hotel Country Manor has already been nominated for two awards — West Business Family Business of the Year 2020 and Midland Business Award Service Provider 2020 — with winners yet to be announced.
