The world premiere screening of the inspirational anti-bullying short film Aguska will take place at the Birmingham Film Festival in the West Midlands next month.

Filmed entirely in Sussex with the support of local football clubs and organisations, Aguska is a film with a powerful message. It tells the story of Melissa, a young girl who experiences bullying while playing for a junior women’s football team.

Produced by the award-winning West Sussex production company Fact Not Fiction Films, the short stars legendary actor Simon Callow, World Freestyle football champion and Guinness record holder Aguska Mnich, accomplished actress Hannah Baxter-Eve and rising star Tegan Muggeridge. It also features Chelsea FC star Ashley Lawrence and the unmistakable music of punk band Chumbawumba.

Herb Jackson Jr. reprised his role as executive producer, having worked with Fact Not Fiction Films and director Tristan Loraine on the 2023 short, Angel Fleet. He said, “I’m thrilled about our upcoming world premiere in Birmingham! I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of the festival, and I can’t wait for the awards gala on Saturday night, November 16th!”

The Birmingham Film Festival showcases professional and independent films from around the world. The 10-day event brings together a range of genres, styles and topics, with over 200 films shown throughout the festival.

Aguska’s world premiere screening will take place in the spectacular 350-seat Millennium Point auditorium on 10th November.
