Entertainment needed now more than ever, says industry leader

Circus events company Sensation Entertainment has called on performers and event organisers to get creative and take their events online and go digital during the pandemic, saying entertainment is needed now more than ever before.

According to PricewaterhouseCooper’s latest Global Entertainment & Media Outlook, the UK is expected to see a 6.7% decline in industry revenue due to disruptions caused by the pandemic. However, Sensation Entertainment state that entertainment as a whole is vital, both for staff in the events industry and for the public who are struggling with the effects and limitations government restrictions have on everyday life.

The company is encouraging circus performers to be creative in how they can engage with their audiences and keep the magic of the circus alive in a time where people are desperate for an escape from day-to-day life, while earning an income during a period of high financial stress.  With UK restrictions tightened again, the fate of arts venues and whether they will survive to emerge again post-COVID is unknown. Remaining motivated and focusing on new ways to provide entertainment to the masses is key to the industry’s survival.

Maria Stavrou, Managing Director of Sensation Entertainment said, “We understand how much stress the global pandemic has put on entertainment companies both big and small across the UK, but we urge arts performers to stay motivated and work together to see our arts and culture industries make it through this tough time.

“There are creative ways that we can keep this industry afloat, from organising virtual performances to coaching our circus skills to the masses. Now more than ever the public is searching for an outlet and a new focus, with many taking on new skills during such a high-stress period, which is where we can help.”

Maria of Sensation Entertainment added, “We have seen our performers adapt drastically to the challenges faced in light of the pandemic and encourage all performers to take the same approach. This is not the end of the circus, it is a time for adaptation and change, but also a time where our audiences need us more than ever.”
