Linguistica Launches COVID-Safe Solution to Face-to-Face Interpreting

Linguistica Translation & Recruitment, a UK-based company with 20 years’ experience producing exacting translations, transcriptions and multi-lingual recruitment for a world-renowned client base, has expanded its telephone interpreting service to include more than 4,000 linguists and over 200 languages in a bid to help organisations stay safe during the coronavirus pandemic.

The launch of the COVID-safe solution was inspired by the realisation that almost all of Linguistica’s vast array of clients across multiple industries and dozens of countries had all been impacted by the pandemic in one way or the other. With issues such as temporary closure of offices and an inability to communicate with international clients and stakeholders, Linguistica saw a need for a practical, remote solution. The Portsmouth-based firm stepped up and has assembled a larger workforce of skilled, professional interpreters to offer remote interpreting services for organisations worldwide.

By increasing its own remote workforce, Linguistica now offers interpreting services in over 200 different languages, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to help support clients through the present period of economic uncertainty.

Linguistica director Carrie Wilson said, “There’s no denying that this year has been tough and many businesses have found themselves on the back foot with the sudden and necessary shift to remote working. We realised that amidst all of the upheaval, many organisations were struggling to communicate with their clients and stakeholders at exactly the time when it was needed the most, due to the restrictions on travel and group sizes. Those who would usually employ an interpreter to attend a meeting for example were suddenly left with no language support and faced with taking calls and dealing with customers in other languages. We have acted quickly to add a significant number of new interpreters and linguists to our team and developed a COVID-safe solution which can be deployed throughout the world, on demand.”

The telephone interpreting service can be used for language support during telephone calls, group conference calls and virtual meetings with a range of specialist applications on hand to enable a smooth and understood method of communication where no common language exists.

A further benefit is that the cost is calculated at a set rate per minute for all languages with no hidden costs, no minimum usage and no contract necessary. This means that clients only pay for the exact amount of time they need to use the interpreter, helping those who are grappling with much tighter budgets to stay on track.

All members of the Linguistica network of interpreters have undertaken a rigorous vetting process, which includes signing a strict HIPAA and GDPR compliant confidentiality agreement to ensure the safety and protection of all data and information that passes between parties for additional peace of mind.
