Plucky new financial wellbeing organisation seeks sponsorship for extreme chicken race

Financial Essentials, a brand-new start-up organisation designed to help individuals develop better money management skills, is on the hunt for sponsorship for a quirky new sporting event to raise funds for its online money management course.

Known as extreme chicken racing, Financial Essentials has been running small chicken race events via Instagram to raise funds for the new initiative and is now seeking sponsorship for its upcoming event to help it meet its fundraising target of £600. This will enable the organisation to create basic learning materials on topics such as income tax, budgeting, loans and National Insurance contributions.

Partnering with accredited training provider Wizard Learning, the course will be overseen by a team of chartered financial planners and will be delivered online and in face-to-face sessions where required. Available free of charge or for a minimal cost to users of any age, the online course seeks to educate individuals to better manage their finances and achieve a life free of money worries.

The extreme chicken race is scheduled for Sunday 7 June, 2020.

The event will see five pet ‘racing’ chickens competing on a specially designed 40-metre course. The course will feature six small fences that the winged contenders will jump to reach the finish line. The chicken that lands over the final fence first will be crowned the winner.

With five pet chickens to back prior to the event, those wanting to support the extreme chicken race event can select from Phoenix the Daisybelle, Sparky the Partridge, Pumpkin the Columbian Blacktail, Blizzard the White Star or Stormzy the Buff Barred who all have their own unique personalities and racing styles.

Those donating just £10 can choose a chicken to win the race and if it comes in first, will be rewarded with an exclusive extreme chicken racing sports towel. There are a variety of other donation rewards available to help raise vital funds for the Financial Essentials online course.

Social fundraiser, Lorna Goldsmith said, “As the majority of sports have been cancelled due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, we wanted to bring our unique and fun sport to the fore in order to raise much-needed funds for our Financial Essentials course.

“Featuring easy to understand resources on everything from day to day budgeting to investments and pensions, we want to help people to achieve financial happiness and are asking our supporters to get behind our next extreme chicken race event so we can do just that!”
