grüum launches environmentally conscious recycling scheme for razor cartridges for every bit of every body

New unisex shaving subscription company, grüum has set out to champion environmentally conscious recycling with a unique razor cartridge return service, focusing on recycling parts of the razor that usually end up in landfill in a first for the personal hygiene and beauty industry.

Razor cartridges are currently not recyclable here in the UK when included with standard household waste, but the brains behind the new razor brand felt that this didn’t mean they shouldn’t be. The UK-start-up will instead ask customers to send back their grüum razor head cartridges after use so that they can be privately recycled as part of a wider commitment to creating an ethical and environmentally responsible product.

The razor recycling scheme by grüum is a pioneering new service from an industry that sees thousands of tons of plastic waste created in the form of regular disposable razors. It is nothing short of a revolution for the razor market. Customers simply fill their original grüum postage box with their sixteen used razor cartridges and return it to the company free of charge for responsible recycling.

Co-founder Bethanie Sleigh said “As a small start-up company, we were concerned about the impact that product packaging waste is having on the world around us.  In order to help combat this, we want to do our part to reduce the environmental impact and have launched the UK’s first razor cartridge recycling scheme for our customers.

“Staying ahead of our competitors who are failing to offer any such service and help save the planet, we hope that consumers will join us in our bid to make superior shaving something that doesn’t cost the earth by trying our environmentally conscious product range.”

The philosophy of grüum doesn’t just challenge razor waste; it also provides great quality skincare and shaving essentials suitable for both men and women. Underwhelmed with the mediocre offerings available on the beauty market, four friends gathered together to offer a better alternative for the UK’s shaving needs and did away with any male and female-centric marketing gimmicks that are currently the norm in this industry.

Instead, the brand focuses more on quality and superior performance with an environmentally focused edge that champions recycling in a market responsible for creating high volumes of plastic waste.

Each product has been created with a focus on protecting the natural environment. Features include fully recyclable plastic bottles in the skincare range and a reusable razor handle along with packaging made exclusively from widely recyclable items such as plastic, cardboard, metal and glass.

Combining these two elements, grüum not only leaves users with silky smooth skin without the need for labels, but also gives them the chance to do their bit for the planet too.
