D1 London Spirits brand gets the royal seal of approval!

To celebrate the 70th birthday of Prince Charles this year, a commemorative publication – Our Future King: Prince Charles at 70 – has been launched in a glittering ceremony at The Ritz in London.

And the international D1 London Spirits brand was one of the small group of select British organisations to be profiled in the royal book!

Celebrating a lifetime of achievement and heralding his current and future roles and responsibilities, the book charts the Prince’s seven decades; from his early years, through to his present status as one the most significant figures on the world stage.

D1 London Spirits was given a double page spread in the chapter entitled ‘Global hospitality – Entertaining in style’ – a part of the book which claims hospitality is helping to bring the world together.

The D1 London portfolio features a luxury gin and vodka by D.J. Limbrey Distilling Co, which blend traditional distilling craft with contemporary art, as well as a range of cold-infusion pockets for flavouring spirits and non-alcoholic drinks.

The company’s D1 London Gin is a multi-award winning smooth and versatile gin which includes a daring kick of nettles that balances fruit flavours and aromas. The reversible bottle provides a clear canvas for the iconic ‘Floral Skull’, from the series of artworks by international pop artist Jacky Tsai, originally made famous by Alexander McQueen.

D1 Potato Vodka is a spirit of outstanding character that combines delicious creamy smoothness with the diverse cultural references of Jacky Tsai’s Stained Glass Skull. Delectable over ice and matchless in a martini, D1 sets a new benchmark for luxury vodka.

D1 London owner, Dominic Limbrey, said: “We established D.J. Limbrey Distilling Company to create contemporary luxury spirits that met demand for British craft, quality and innovation. As such, we were incredibly honoured to be recognised in such a regal, high profile and quintessentially British publication.

“British gins are traditionally dominated by strong, bold botanicals that taste quite bitter. I wanted to create something more elegant – something softer and smoother, which nonetheless retained the juniper and botanical flavours that are typical of gin.

“Meanwhile, vodka is less synonymously British than gin, but brand Britain has an eclectic identity constructed from its days of being a travelling nation, so our vodka reflects this by being proudly British.”

More recently, D1 has launched DJ’s Cold Infusions which ingeniously use the idea of a teabag to create cold infusion pockets which can be added to spirits, tonic or soda water to produce a range of flavours that come with no artificial additives.

Dominic added: “D1 London Gin and D1 Potato Vodka redefine super-premium spirits in a dramatically different way, enabling expression of personal taste and individual style. It has taken time and collaboration to perfect the smooth, versatile taste. I’m honoured to be working with so many fantastic people to bring about an enduring reinvention of British luxury spirits.”

The fully illustrated hardback was the brainchild of the SJH Group and royal correspondent Robert Jobson who launched the book in the refined setting of the Ritz London hotel in Piccadilly.

Speaking at the launch, Richard Freed, CEO and owner of the SJH Group, said: “This commemorative album is yet another prestigious publication in our long list of books celebrating landmark events such as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

“We are extremely proud of this book and honoured to be working with the likes of Robert Jobson and alongside such exceptional companies and organisations on this project.”
