House of Feasts to host BBQ masterclasses

Home cooks who find themselves losing the man v meat battle of the BBQ are invited to take a masterclass from TV chef Damian Wawrzyniak this weekend at Peterborough restaurant, House of Feasts.

With a focus on bringing forgotten flavours and cooking techniques to British tables, the BBQ classes will be taught by Chef Warzyniak – who earlier this year taught Queen of Cakes and Great British Bake Off Judge Mary Berry how to make a famed Polish Babka.

Chef Warzyniak said, “Having a BBQ is such as quintessential taste of summer but, all too often it means the same old cuts of mean, boring old sausages and chunks of charred meat. I’m really passionate about fusing old and new so in these classes, I will teach home cooks how to master their BBQ like a pro, with some chef’s secrets on how to choose a cut of meat, how to brine meat, which type of salt to use, how much of it and how long to keep each piece of meat in the brine.

“After prepping, we will move on to the BBQ and learn the best way to fire up the coals or burner and how to grill the meats to perfection. Once it’s all cooked, it’s off to the garden to eat the results with a full plate, a cold drink and great company.”

The ultra-personal BBQ classes are limited to just eight people, making them an intimate, fun and accessible way to master the summer staple. Chef Warzyniak overseas the brining and spit roast of a whole rare breed Dingley Dale pig each week at House of Feasts and recently returned from Poland where he cooked a Polish lunch for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as part of their first official joint tour.

Located on Crowland Road, House of Feasts by Chef Warzyniak specialises in delicious family-style feasting with sumptuous hog roasts and sharing platters packed with contemporary twists on traditional favourites. All dishes are created using locally sourced ingredients, including meat from local farms.

The first BBQ class with Chef Warzyniak will be held on 12th August 2017 at 1pm in the beautiful House of Feasts gardens. Classes are priced at £50 per person and include the class, plate of cooked meats and glass of wine. Class size is restricted to eight guests.
