Announcing No Solo Supplement Expeditions On World’s First Luxury Icebreaker: Le Commandant Charcot in 2025 & 2026

Solo travellers keen to make their most epic journey of discovery yet could embark on a bucket list adventure to some of the world’s most remote regions aboard the world’s first luxury icebreaker – with no solo traveller surcharge imposed for selected 2025 and 2026 voyages. North Pole Cruises will waive the single supplement charge for some of its most iconic itineraries – including expeditions to Antarctica and Greenland – aboard the majestic Le Commandant Charcot.

Setting off in January 2026‘In the wake of Jean-Baptiste Charcot’ voyages to the edges of the earth on a 15-day exploration which follows the footsteps of the explorer from the Antarctic Peninsula to the Bellingshausen Sea and its unknown islets. Passing through the mythical Drake Passage, beaten by the winds and home to soaring cape petrels, guests will enjoy their first glimpse of the last continent on the horizon.

With featured guest, Cindy Miller Hopkins, American Photo Ambassador, guests can expect to see landscapes like no other, inhabited by Adelie, Gentoo and chinstrap penguins, leopard, crabeater and Weddell seals, humpback and Mink whales, and even orcas.

For those keen to set off sooner, the 2025 expedition ‘Disko Bay: Meeting the Inuit & Discovering the Unknown’ is the second of the trio of trips that doesn’t impose a solo traveller surcharge. Under the expert guidance of polar specialist Neil Gilbert, this 16-day journey of exploration will mark a first for any ship as Le Commandant Charcot sets sail for Baffin Bay and the ice-covered villages, inaccessible to traditional ships during the early spring period. The destination? The magnificent icy Disko Bay, home to the largest icebergs in the northern hemisphere.

“We’re delighted to offer a series of unforgettable itineraries for solo travellers, with no additional charges imposed,” says North Pole Cruises founder, Andy Marsh. “Intrepid travellers, solo or otherwise, will journey through the most remote and pristine regions of the planet to witness the awe-inspiring beauty of frozen landscapes few have ever seen – all under the guidance of a team of experts who bring these remote regions to life with their extensive knowledge and passion.”

Opening up new horizons in May 2025, intrepid solo travellers could also voyage to the remote, icy expanses of north-east Greenland. ‘Northeast Greenland’s Unexplored Sea Ice’ begins with a backdrop of unexplored alpine peaks along the Blosseville Coast, takes in the world’s largest network of fjords in the Ittoqqortoormiit region and ends amongst a silent frozen forest of blue-tinged icebergs. En route, Cindy Miller Hopkins will assist guests wishing to capture the arctic landscape and its iconic wildlife on film.

Guests can choose from a range of activities on each expedition, dependent on weather and ice conditions.
