Starling Bank voted Britain’s Best Bank 2019

The rising star of challenger banks tops the poll of CompareBanks users

Starling Bank has been voted as Britain’s Best Bank 2019 in a poll run by CompareBanks.co.uk. The award was decided by users of the comparison website and is the latest in a long line of accolades for the popular challenger bank.

The poll was live on site throughout 2019, to allow as many people as possible to decide on which of the many new and existing banks provided the best service for British customers in 2019. After thousands of votes had been cast, Starling emerged as the winner with 32% of the total.

Tim Langford, founder of CompareBanks, said “We’re thrilled that Starling has won the title of Britain’s Best Bank 2019. The choice for customers has never been broader, meaning competition between banks is fierce. For visitors to our website to have named Starling as the winner shows that they are living up to their reputation as one of the most exciting challenger banks in the market.”

Starling Bank CEO, Anne Boden, said: “We’re very pleased to be voted ‘Best Bank 2019’ by CompareBanks readers and are grateful to them for endorsing our customer-first approach.

“When we built Starling from scratch, we started with the features that customers really wanted.

“That’s why we have features such as real-time payment alerts, the Round-Up saving feature and a partnership with the Post Office. We’re listening to our customers all the time and always evolving.”

First Direct and Monzo shared the runner-up spot, each gaining ~18% of the vote.

CompareBanks, the website that created the award, is a journalistic site that provides impartial reviews of the banks available to the UK, including a wide range of challenger and start-up banks.
